Sigma Kappa's National Philanthropies
Maine Sea Coast Mission - Sigma Kappa members have worked to relieve poverty in the Downeast Maine community for nearly a century. Books, clothing, gift cards, toiletries and other items are collected and distributed on an annual basis.
Gerontology Studies - In 1954, Sigma Kappa became the 1st national sorority to recognize the need for continued, comprehensive work on the study of aging and the needs of elderly populations.
Inherit The Earth - Sigma Kappa is committed to being “green”. By collaborating with older citizens, Sigma Kappa members can blend their gerontology philanthropic priority with an environmental focus.
Alzheimer’s Disease - In 1984, Sigma Kappa responded to an increasingly critical problem facing older citizens by adding Alzheimer’s Disease research and education to its philanthropic activities. Research grants are made each year to institutions actively engaged in the fight against Alzheimer’s Disease.
